Commander
Maj Sweitzer is a 26-year retired veteran of the United States Army (USA). He is a combat veteran who served in both Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns. He is the spouse of a Department of the Army Civilian currently working out of a Military Intelligence Battalion on Fort Gordon and has four children ranging in ages between sixteen and thirty.
He became the Commander of the Augusta Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in June of 2022. He is the founder and Committee Chairperson for Scouts BSA Troop 289 in Grovetown, Ga for the past six years, mentoring young adults.
His awards and ribbons include Bronze Star Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Korea Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Ribbon; Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon (some awards and ribbons have multiple decorations).
He holds a bachelor’s in applied science and a minor in Information Security from Campbell University
He is a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Lifetime Member of the United States Warrant Officer Association, Distinguished Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He is an NRA instructor for rifle shotgun and pistol.
